The Grand Canyon is big. And deep. And very high up. Both Rich and I have noticed the lack of oxygen up here at 8000+ feet, and find even the shorter hikes a bit challenging. Luckily the North Rim is more about driving than hiking. We spent the morning admiring the aspens, and driving the 28 mile drive to the various scenic vistas. One of the vistas almost claimed this trusty phone/camera, as it fell out of my pocket, which I didn't discover until the next scenic vista. A mad dash by speeding mustang back to the previous site found Samsung phone in ballistic case intact, but about a foot away from being run over by a departing SUV. Lucky break. Then it as more driving, but unfortunately also a big snow cloud spewing its white stuff everywhere. Since the photography and driving were both challenged we headed back for lunch.
On the way back, we saw a (herd, gaggle, group, pod?) Of turkeys. Cell phone camera didn't capture that well, I'm afraid.
Later in the day the snow clouds pushed on, an we attempted the scenic drive again. Better photos this time plus a romantic sunset, accompanied by the sound of many clicking cameras capturing the moment.
Rich and Kat head west to bask in the sun-drenched canyons of the American southwest....and in the neon glow of Vegas.
